A San Antonio mother is facing charges after deputies claim she concocted a retaliatory drink that sent her son's alleged fifth-grade bully to the hospital, as per KSAT. Jennifer Lynn Rossi, 45, reportedly admitted to having made a beverage of lemon juice, salt, vinegar, and Gatorade for her 10-year-old son to serve to the peer in question.
The ill-conceived prank unfolded at Legacy Traditional School Alamo Ranch, with Rossi's son dispensing the spiked sports drink during PE class, following her guidance, the unsettling details emerge from an arrest affidavit; “The (son) stated the drink mixture was made due to the child stealing his drink the day prior and being bullied by the child... Rossi admitted to making the mixture due to her son... stating the child stole his drink and was bullying him,” the affidavit provided to KSAT read. The recipient of the drink suffered nausea and headaches and required hospital attention as a result.
Rossi reportedly took full responsibility for the concoction, as KENS 5 noted, asserting her background as a nurse implied the non-toxic nature of the ingredients. Still, the incident led to her arrest on charges of Injury to a Child, though she has since been released on bond with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for April.
The school's response was swift as officials called the Bexar County Sheriff's Office immediately upon learning of the incident, with other fifth-grade students who sampled the drink also receiving medical attention as a precautionary measure, the school's initiative was highlighted in a statement to KENS 5. Rossi's son faced school-level discipline while the affected child has been reported to be recovering at home.
